Spicy Radish Curry

Spicy Radish Curry

This curry is quite spicy.  So please adjust the amount of chili powder according to your taste.  This curry is called “mullangy curry” in Tamil.


  • 2 cups white radish cubed
  • 1½ cups water
  • 1½ – 2 teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin powder
  • ¼ teaspoon coriander powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1 cup red onion sliced
  • 1 – 2 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 strand curry leaves
  • 2 tablespoon milk or coconut milk


  • add canola oil to a covered saucepan and add the onion and fry until they are golden
  • now add the radish to the onion and fry for about 5 minutes
  • add water, salt and chili powder and cook covered for about 15 minutes
  • add milk/coconut milk and cook for another 2 minute or until the sauce thickens
  • add curry leaves and mix well and remove from the stove
  • serve with warm rice

Yields about 2 – 3 side dishes
